With more than 15 years of experience in the industry, Jane has dedicated her career to successfully leading residents, families and teams at Senior Living communities in the Sioux Falls area. Jane possesses undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Journalism, and graduate degrees in Public Health Leadership, as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Healthcare. Jane is actively involved in the Sioux Falls community, primarily with The Rotary Club of Downtown Sioux Falls. During her career, Jane has committed to serving as an advocate for providing the best possible environment for seniors, including ensuring fine dining, first-rate health care services, and ongoing opportunities for wellness and recreation.

Sales and Marketing
As a Sioux Falls native, Kelly brings more than 20 years of professional healthcare-related experience in the areas of sales and marketing, consulting, and management to Grand Living at Lake Lorraine. Kelly holds both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees with a Communications specialty. During her career, 10 years has been dedicated to working in the field of senior living, where she has worked diligently with hundreds of older adults and their families, exploring their options in selecting appropriate care services and communities in which to live.

Sales and Marketing
Ashley Vogt, originally from Sioux City, IA, played an integral role in the opening of Grand Living at Lake Lorraine in 2017. Originally leading the community as the Marketing Transition Support Coordinator, Ashley was promoted to her current position in November 2019. She possesses a Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State College in Nebraska. Throughout her career, Ashley has experienced natural success at building relationships, priding herself on a high level of customer service. Ashley is family oriented, be it her family or someone else’s. She also enjoys playing volleyball and being active outdoors.

JOY BACKES, RN
Director of Health and Wellness
A native of Northwest Arkansas, Joy brings an extensive working healthcare background with her as the Director of Health and Wellness at Grand Living at Lake Lorraine. Joy has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University and a Bachelor of Biology from York College in York, Nebraska. She has more than 17 years of experience in a variety of positions, including manager of a home health agency, charge nurse of a med-surg trauma unit, and emergency room nurse. Over these years Joy has obtained many certifications (PALS, ACLS, TNCC, CPI) and has become board-certified in med-surg. Throughout her healthcare career, she has advocated for the best patient/resident care possible using the most efficient and effective methods. She has dedicated herself to ensuring that all patients and residents receive the most outstanding care, not to just restore quality of life, but to enhance it. In her spare time, Joy loves to travel and is involved in women’s league softball and basketball, volunteers at her daughter’s school and coaches her daughter’s various activities. She also loves to volunteer at local community events.
Born and raised in South Dakota, Mary has a strong compassion for serving people in her community. With a 23-year background in healthcare, she displays the ability to understand and empathize in her ongoing relationships with residents. Prior to her journey into healthcare, Mary spent 20 years in sales for Time Warner/Reader’s Digest. Her outgoing personality enables her to carry on a conversation with anyone, and her integrity and always-positive attitude allows her to work on a personal level with each and every resident at Grand Living.
Chef John has a passion for sharing education or almost anything culinary. After several years as a Hotel, Restaurant and Hospital Chef he thoroughly enjoys the personalization of cuisine that Grand Living affords. His favorite to eat is barbecue, his favorite cuisine to prepare is whatever he is making today. Just ask him, he can talk about food til the cows come home.
