Grand Living Residents Empowered to Continue England Tradition

Grand Living at Bridgewater residents Cathy O’Connor and Connie McCall brought the idea of hosting a “Holiday High Tea Party” at the community to Director of Facets, Taylor Brundage, in the month of December. After a meeting, we all agreed that this would be a great event to host for everyone in the community to enjoy!

Connie grew up drinking tea and she remembers her mother giving her tea, with milk and a couple of sugar cubes. This tradition continued to Cathy, Connie’s daughter. Cathy and Connie collected memorabilia from going to tea parties in many places, including Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace, but most importantly, they created such fond memories.

When it came to hosting the tea party at Bridgewater, the FACETS® Team put their best foot forward to make Cathy and Connie’s vision come to life – everything from the food menu, to decorations, down to what tea we decided to serve. To add in the Holiday season, we served peppermint tea and added colorful poinsettias as the centerpieces. Another resident, Nancy Springer, donated her tea set to Grand Living at Bridgewater upon moving into the community, so seeing her tea sets get great use, brought so much joy to her on this day!

Residents are empowered to continue what they love to do after moving to our community. Cathy and Connie brought up the idea of the tea party to me, and it will now be an annual event!

Thank you to Cathy and Connie for sharing your knowledge and experience with the Grand Living at Bridgewater staff and residents!
