RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT: JENNY PIERCE
Recently, we had a chance to sit down and chat with Grand Living Lakewood Ranch resident Jenny Pierce. She and her husband Tom moved to our community in May 2025, a move prompted by a need for a supportive environment that could cater to both of their needs.
Jenny and Tom’s story is one of a lifetime of adventure. They met in New York when Jenny was a flight attendant and Tom was an executive with John Hancock. Together, they traveled the world and raised three children, celebrating 66 years of marriage.
Last year, Jenny faced a difficult crossroad. Her husband required more care than she could provide at home, and her family and doctor encouraged her to look for a permanent solution. After touring several communities in a three-day span, the choice became clear.
“I said there is no question in my mind this is the one I would prefer,” Jenny shared. “Everyone seemed so easy and friendly, which I liked. My daughter agreed with me. This was the best one we saw.”

“I just knew he couldn’t come alone, that I had to come with him,” said Jenny. “I debated staying in the house and driving over here every day, but I knew it would get to be such a hassle.”
Upon moving in, Jenny discovered that the care extended to her as well. Between the monthly caregiver support group and the daily interactions with staff, she realized she was no longer navigating this journey alone.

Jenny’s experience has been defined by the people who work here. She specifically noted the impact of team members like John in housekeeping, who embodies the spirit of our community.
“John has got to be the nicest and hardest working person,” Jenny said. “Always a smile, always knows your name, always stops and says hello to you, even if he is busy. He is super!”
Today, Jenny is “paying it forward” by acting as an unofficial ambassador for new residents, ensuring they feel the same warmth she felt on day one. Her advice to those considering the move? “I tell them they will make friends and they will like it.”
While Jenny acknowledges that premium care is an investment, for her and Tom, the peace of mind is priceless.
