I am excited to work for Grand Living because I love their vision, foundation and principles in how they want their community to be and how they want their residents to feel. The staff here is a very cohesive family to work with. I also get to love on residents every day and treat them like family. I want to help them live their best lives every day.
Director of Facets
Taylor is a native of Iowa and grew up outside of Cedar Rapids. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2019 with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Family Services. Taylor completed an internship with Grand Living at Bridgewater prior to her college graduation, then was hired as a FACETS assistant before transitioning into her current role as the Director or FACETS. Taylor shared she immediately felt like she was in the right place as soon as she stepped through the doors!
I enjoy coming to work every day knowing that I am making an impact on our residents’ lives. I get such great joy when I see and hear residents, as well as staff talk about how thrilled they are with the activities that are provided in the community. I want residents to feel supported and I want to cheer them on in everything that they want to continue to do or a new hobby they would like to pursue.
Chef Austina is a native of Freetown, Sierra Leone in West Africa. She grew up as the middle child in a family of “foodies” but did not think the kitchen was for her. Her family moved to the United States in 1998 and Austina decided to take a cake decorating class at Kirkwood Community College. Once she entered the kitchen, she was hooked. Chef Austina’s culinary experience includes working in hotels, restaurants, business and educational settings. Chef loves explaining the Grand Living Culinary Program to everyone she meets because, as she puts it, “It is a unique concept in senior dining. Our residents have worked hard their whole lives. It is their time to relax and let us take care of them. The best way to say ‘thank you’ is by providing good, home-cooked meals that nourish them.” Her ability to personalize and cater to individual residents with specific needs goes above and beyond and Grand Living at Bridgewater is thrilled to have her as part of our family
It is always more than JUST food! Food creates memories that transcends barriers and as culinarians, we always want those memories to be positive. We strive to present the best each day.
